Date Nights

Jon and I try to have a date night every week.  Most of our date nights consist of us staying home and watching a movie, or going to the mall and just walking around.  However occassionally, we have some really fun dates where I try to do something special.  In April, I got a picnic together and took Jon to the park.  It was a warm and beautiful day.  He loved the food and the idea of having a picnic.

In May, my parents let me borrow their condo here in town. So I invited Jon to a "Winter Wonderland" prom. I went early and decorated the condo with decorations we had from the wedding. I cooked him a wonderful dinner. It was a three course dinner with Salad, Roasted Chicken and Red Garlic Potatoes. For dessert I made him a cherry cheesecake. It was all so good. He arrived in his suit, while I was in a beautiful dress and we danced to songs we played at the wedding. It was so fun to do something different

Another really fun date we had was in October. I asked my sister Lori if she would be willing to make up some clues so that Jon and I could go on a Scavenger Hunt. She thought up some great clues that took us around the area. Our final destination was home. When we got home we had a surprise by the door. My sister had gotten us Sparkling Cider, a nice scented candle, and a plate of chocolate covered pretzels and fudge for us to enjoy.  At each clue there was a little puzzle piece.  When we got home we put the puzzle together.  It was a picture from our first blog post.  Thanks Lori for all your help. :)

Ugly Sweater Party

On December 8th we hosted an Ugly Sweater party.  We had so much fun.  We invited three other couples to enjoy the time with us.  We had a potluck dinner so that we would be able to visit and get to know one another better.  We had the Bishop and his wife, Lavon, David and Corrine, and Jake and Stephanie.  Jake and Stephanie are a new couple in the ward and it was nice to be able to get to know them better.  I worked with Lavon and Corrine in the Primary.  Jon didn't get the chance to be there for dinner because he was working at a game, but he was able to be there for a half an hour before everyone left.

All of us at the Ugly Sweater Party.

We had so much fun, we may make this an annual event.  Thanks to everyone for joining us in the fun.

Thanksgiving

The next Holiday we got to celebrate was Thanksgiving.  This year we spent Thanksging with Jon's family.  They all came down to Yakima and we had dinner at Jon's sister Darla's house.  It was fun to see Jon's family and visit.  We had a good time eating and playing games.  There were a lot of us there.  Thanks everyone for coming down to Yakima.  Jon and I had a great time.

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!!!  Thanks for such a great time.  We enjoyed having you all visit.

Halloween

I love this time of year. When it is starting to get crisp outside. Perfect sweater weather. It is also great because we get to celebrate so many holidays. The first of the holdiays is Halloween. We had such a blast for Halloween this year. We decided we were going to have a Halloween party. So to prepare we really decked out the house this year.

Thanks to Pinterest I got this great idea to put bats across the window.  It looked so great.  We did get our pumpkin carved.  We were so busy we didn't actually get it done until the night of Halloween.  But we got it done.

After all the decorations were done, we invited a couple of families in the ward to come over for a Halloween party.  We had lots of fun with them.  We had a costume contest and some games for the kids, then of course, we had some great food.  Thanks everyone for coming.

Catch up 3

This is the third and hopefully the last blog I need to write to play catch up. To continue from where I left off:  I love Craig's List.  I was able to find a, new to me, used stove on craigs list for only $40. I was so excited.  It was in great working order.  So we called a couple of friends from the ward to help us install the new stove.

Justin helping get our electrical in order for the stove.

The old stove is gone and we have it prepped for the new stove.

The final product.  The stove isn't pretty but it works great!!!  So much bigger and better than the old stove that was there.  I love the stove.  Thank you Justin and Justin for all your help!!

On October 13, I was given a great gift.  A friend of mine paid for a flight for me to fly to Utah to escort my friend Kelly thru the temple.  Kelly went thru the Oquirrh Mountain Temple. It is such a Beautiful temple. Kelly told me it was a small temple, but it has 3 floors and a basement. There are 6 sealing rooms. I told her this is not small...you should see tri-cities. :) We walked past the recommend desk and the sight just took my breath away. There were 2 staircases going up to the 2nd floor with a gigantic star chandlier in between. It was BEAUTIFUL!!! Kelly laughed at me because I actually made a noise and said how beautiful it was. It was so great being an escort for kelly. She and I both cried several times. I learned so much while I was there. I couldn't believe it. When I was waiting for kelly to get dressed the Assistant to the Matron was talking to me. I had told her I was from Washington and she asked a little about kelly and me. She told me to take Kelly up to the third floor to show her around. That is where all the sealing rooms are and the wedding waiting area. I was surprised she told me to do that and I asked if I really could. She said absolutely. So after the session, I took her up to the third floor. It was so beautiful. We were standing in a sealing room looking in the mirrors when an old man, who was a sealer, asked if we needed any help. I told him the Assistant to the Matron told us to take a look, and of course he knew kelly was new, so he said, well come here...let me show you this. And he showed us all this cool stuff up there. It was a lot of fun.

After the temple, we went to my friend Ange's house. That was where I was going to have a get together with some old friends I hadn't seen in a long time. So I got to see Ange and her husband, who I met in April when we went to their reception in Walla Walla, then I saw my friend Lisa and her new husband of 3 weeks. That was a lot of fun. She is a friend I met at the Business College. I also got to see Margo and her husband I had never met and her 2 year old little girl. They were fun to see. I actually met her up here in the branch.  I also got to see Nicole, who I worked with at Zirkle and she attended the branch. She brought her boyfriend that I got to meet. So it was a small crowd but so much fun. I just had a blast.

Catch Up 2

May 2012

Jon and I were able to get a ride with a friend to Moses Lake to go see Jon's sister get baptised.  Jon had the privledge of performing the baptism.  He was extremely honored to do it.  My friend Tina bought this nice bright yellow camaro.  The same car as Bumble Bee on Transformers.  Jon loves this car, so we took pictures with it.

Thanks Tina for letting us ride with you in your sweet car. ;)

For Memorial Day weekend all of my siblings got together for a camping trip since we couldn't get together for Memorial Day.  We went up to Mt. Rainier National Park and camped at Ohanepecosh.  We had an entire camping area to ourselves.  No neighbors.  It was so nice to get to visit and spend some time together.  Friday night we all arrived, set up camp and just spent the evening around the campfire.

Jon and I took 2 of Emily's kids down to the river.  It's too dark to see the river behind us.

On Saturday we hiked up to Silver Falls.  With it being so early in the year Silver Falls was so big.  I have never seen it that big.  It was a nice hike.  Jon carried Thomas on his back the whole way so that summer wouldn't have to carry him.

All of us ready to head out for the rest of the day.  We had such a good time with everyone.  Jon and I loved it.  We hope to be able to do it again.  Thank you everyone so much for making our time so enjoyable.

After we left Ohanapecosh, Lisa and Jamie's family and Jon and me went to see the Grove of the Patriarchs.  Jon had never been there and Lisa couldn't ever remember when she went as a young girl.  So we had so much fun seeing all the big trees.

We loved the suspension bridge.  It's almost like a fun ride.

We loved how huge the trees were

All of us around the big tree

After Grove of the Patriarchs Lisa and Jaime left to go home.  I wanted to take Jon up to Paradise to see the base of Mt. Rainier.  It had been kinda cloudy the whole morning, so we weren't sure how the weather was going to be.  But I wanted him to be able to see the mountain up close, so we took a chance.  There was so much snow.  When we walked around I would sink down to my knees and still not be touching the ground.  It was fun to see so much snow.  When we got there, we had great weather.  It was so good, Jon even hiked up to a really tall peak.  He loved it.

Look how deep the snow is
