Getting the garden ready

One of the reasons we bought our new house that we did was because of this big space in the backyard of dirt.  The previous owners used it for their dog run, but we are turning it into our garden.  Having a garden this big, requires big equipment.  So we went and bought a rototiller.  Jon is getting our garden prepped.  We had the kids help us as well.

It grows weeds really quickly

Time with Family

General Conference was this weekend.  We went down to my parents house to visit and watch conference there.  I love conference.  I get so much out of it every time.  Mom was babysitting Adam and Brandi's kids while they went to Salt Lake for Conference. Darin and Christy also came to visit since they are moving back east.  I am going to miss them so much.

This little girl is so cute.  I just loved watching her just sit there.

James spent spring break with my parents in Grandview.  He had a lot of fun.  Time spent at Grandma's isn't complete until you make cookies.

Malachi and I had a date night out for ice cream

James spent the week at my parents house for the week of spring break.  Whenever you go to grandmas you always make cookies.

The day I James came home I was driving to Costco and we saw this big military plane.  James thought it was really cool and wanted a picture.  It was really huge.

Family movie night is always a highlight for the kids.

Grandma Dee came down for the weekend and helped us all with some yard work.  With my pregnancy I have a really hard work getting down into the dirt to pull the weeds.  So she came down to help.

It was really nice to have all this help.  The yard sure looks so much nicer with this done.

We took the kids to the temple to tell them all about how we were going to be sealed.  How it was so beautiful on the inside.  It got the kids pretty excited.

Updating the yard

We have been updating the yard and getting it ready.  Jon and I are bound and determined to have a green lawn.  I'm not sure if we will manage to get it, but in the process we have really been working hard on the yard.  Here are some pictures of some of the updates we have done.

Spring is coming!!!

Spring is coming which means it is time to start working in the yard.  We have been doing quite a bit in the yard to get things ready for spring.  Jon has already fertilized the yard, which means we will start mowing the lawn soon. :)  I am so excited for spring.  We are excited to get our garden planted and just start enjoying the warmer weather.  We took out 4 wild rose bushes that we had out in the back yard.  Jon did a wonderful job and getting it all out, and leveling the ground.  We are still trying to decide what we want to do in that area.  We are thinking of planting a few ferns and hostas.  We will have to see what we can find.

We had two trees in our side yard that we wanted to have cut down.  We asked a couple of people in the ward if they could come and help us, and one man said he would be available.  So one Friday morning after I left for work, he showed up with his truck and his chainsaw and was ready to work.  By the time I got home for lunch, one tree was already down and the other was half way there.

Jon got back to the house to help take down the 2nd tree.  It was fun to watch him try to pull the tall limbs.

This is what the front yard looks life after the trees have been removed.

Thank you Brother Slight for all your help taking the trees down.We love the way the yard looks now.
