Another Home Project

Jon and I got ambitious over the weekend and decided to do a couple of home projects.  We were finally able to get soil for our 3rd garden box.  We are excited.  We are hoping to have a good garden this year so we will be able to can more vegetables.  With more room we should be able to grow more vegetables.  Here is our new planter box.

All we need to do now is plant the seeds.  By fall this should be full of beans.  :)

Another project we tackled this weekend was painting the bathroom.  When I first bought the house, I painted all the bedrooms and the kitchen.  I hadn't gotten around to painting the bathroom.  Jon and I talked and thought it would be fun to do a beach theme in the bathroom.

Here is the bathroom before.  Needless to say, I did not like the colors that were there.

Jon did a lot as far as painting, because he had to do all the high parts because I couldn't reach. I guess that is one advantage to being vertically challenged. :)

We chose to do two colors.  One wall is a dark teal color, and the other walls are a turquoise color.  The trim is white.  We love it.

Disregard the shower curtain.  Of course we will be getting a new curtain, but for now we just need to have one to shower.  We are also looking for some fun beach decorations.  Every time I walk into the bathroom I just smile.    It was a fun quick home improvement project.

Time Out For Women

On April 19th and 20th my mother in law invited me to go to Time Out for Women in Spokane.  I had such a great time.  It was so much fun.  They told us they were coming back next year, and I would love to be able to go again with my mom and sisters.  We got there Friday afternoon and had fun taking pictures at the photo booth.  They had a Time out for Girls that Katelyn and Brookel were able to go to.

Friday Night I got to hear from Michael McLean.  We got a sneak peak of his new musical Threads.  I was so neat.  I enjoyed hearing him share his music.  I even got to go down and meet him.  It was a lot of fun.  I also got to hear Heidi Swinton speak.  She wrote President Monson's biography.  She got a call from Pres Monson while she was in London England where her husband was the mission president.  When she said that, I looked at her Bio and it said she was in the England London South Mission.  I texted Darin really quick to ask who his mission president was, and lo and behold it was the Swintons.  So after she was done speaking, I ran down to talk to her, and tell her who my brother was.  She was so excited to meet me and hear how Darin was doing.  I took a picture with her, so I could send it to Darin with a message from her.  It was fun to show Darin.

Saturday was a whole day of talks from really great people.  I enjoyed every minute of it.  I was on such an emotional high and have been ever since.  I enjoyed the things that were said and the things that I learned.  My testimony was really strengthened.  I definitely want to go next year.

Updating the yard

We have been updating the yard and getting it ready.  Jon and I are bound and determined to have a green lawn.  I'm not sure if we will manage to get it, but in the process we have really been working hard on the yard.  Here are some pictures of some of the updates we have done.

New Friends

There was a new couple that moved into the ward, and so we wanted to get to know them better so we invited them over for a BBQ and games after Conference.  We ended up having a few extra to join us for games.  So we had Kody and Samantha, our new friends, Jon's mom Dee, Lori, and Jon's sister Avena.  We had such a great time.  Kody and Samantha ended up staying till after 9.  It's nice to be able to have more couples to hang out with.  Thanks for joining us everyone!!

Easter

Jon had to work another Holiday this year, and that was Easter.  We did get to go to church before he had to work, so we did get a picture taken before we left.

Lori and I rode down to Grandview with her roommate Chantel.  She dropped us off and headed to her aunt's house in Prosser.  Lori and I had a great Easter dinner with the family.  We did document our ride down. :)

Happy Easter!!

Spring is coming!!!

Spring is coming which means it is time to start working in the yard.  We have been doing quite a bit in the yard to get things ready for spring.  Jon has already fertilized the yard, which means we will start mowing the lawn soon. :)  I am so excited for spring.  We are excited to get our garden planted and just start enjoying the warmer weather.  We took out 4 wild rose bushes that we had out in the back yard.  Jon did a wonderful job and getting it all out, and leveling the ground.  We are still trying to decide what we want to do in that area.  We are thinking of planting a few ferns and hostas.  We will have to see what we can find.

We had two trees in our side yard that we wanted to have cut down.  We asked a couple of people in the ward if they could come and help us, and one man said he would be available.  So one Friday morning after I left for work, he showed up with his truck and his chainsaw and was ready to work.  By the time I got home for lunch, one tree was already down and the other was half way there.

Jon got back to the house to help take down the 2nd tree.  It was fun to watch him try to pull the tall limbs.

This is what the front yard looks life after the trees have been removed.

Thank you Brother Slight for all your help taking the trees down.We love the way the yard looks now.
